About Jacquie

Hey there! I’m Jacquie and thank you for dropping by!

A Little about me

Being creative is something that some people feel they either have or don’t have. Most feel it is something only some of us are born with.

In my earlier career, I was involved in complementary or alternative health care. I developed a special interest in preventative approaches and how our emotions affect our health. My interests go further into explorations of what life is about, including beyond this current one. I have no current “set” spiritual beliefs, but I’m highly curious and highly convinced I exist beyond this body (and believe that sharing ideas and experiences for the purposes of exploration is very worthwhile).

I mention this as it does have an impact on my approach to various aspects of work. My interest in feelings and emotions has a direct influence on how I approach any creative project… my aim is to have an overall positive or awakening influence on our emotions and our awareness of them.

Over the years, I’ve continued a series of creative and artistic passions ongoing, and have more recently started to bring that to the online space. These interests currently include utilisting wool in feltmaking and the crafts, writing, digital illustration and graphic design and applying that to web development.

My Purpose

As I go through life, I have come across many who say they are not creative. I try to convince them they are, but they often say,

“No, I haven’t got a creative bone in my body”.  Have you heard people say that too?

I have always been attracted to helping people to see their creative abilities and I’m convinced that this is my core purpose in life:

To help you see just how creative you are and find ways to develop that further, bring this ability to worthwhile causes, whether business or other projects.

My purpose here is to help inspire people to be more creative, in both big and small ways. Sometimes it’s just a tweak in perception, at other times I’m more like a creative helper and coach for a much bigger project. I am not so much a director, because I love to get in there and apply myself as well!

So far as I’m concerned, Everyone is Creative!

For as long as I can remember, and with everything I do, I am obsessed with this one idea – that everyone is creative! Every opportunity I get, I’m looking for ways to advance this “truth”.

For me, creativity brings joy to everyone!

If someone believes they’re not creative, I perceive they’re blocking this natural joy.

The Big Why to Recognising Our Creativity

If more of us were to recognise our innate abilities, this world would be a better place, and we’d all be a whole lot happier, healthier and in sync.

A lot of people think creativity is about being able to draw, paint, play an instrument or… something else within the arts. I would like to suggest that creativity is within all our activities, even within the most mundane tasks. In fact, it brings everything to life.

This world has a lot of problems right now, and that weighs heavily on my mind at times. As I get older, I gain more awareness of them.

There have been times when I’ve wondered, how can we deal with so many problems?  I’m sure we all want to reach out and help others while helping ourselves.

Life has taught me the only way to solve these problems isn’t through mere strategy and logistics, or getting more people to follow the “rules”. Somehow Creativity has been suppressed and divorced from these activities, leaving our governments and institutions destitute and in need of nourishment and humanity.

My answer to all of this is to increase our Creative Mojo! I see creativity as the biggest healing force we have.

How do we Become More Creative?

To bring back our creativity, I say we need to get back to basics and learn to play in the sandpit again!

This is the question I’m always exploring and continue to do in my various projects.

Today, many corporations and big businesses are starting to recognise they need more creative people. Unfortunately our schooling and systems have virtually squeezed all the creative juices out. These dried out systems still haven’t fully let go of their juicer mentality, and will have to learn how to recognise creativity from the core.

Mind you, there are many creative individuals out there who are trying to promote the arts and alternative approaches, but our system recognises them as ‘adjuncts’ or ‘extras’ that are not really required.

So the first step is the recognition that creativity is core to improving our society and making headway with the challenges humanity faces. If creativity is seen as less than this, it will always be put to the sidelines when it is needed most.

A new Perspective

Being prepared to look at things from a different perspective and trying something new requires courage. It requires focus. It requires us to connect with how we feel. We will need to experiment, be willing to make mistakes and generally let go of judgement.

We’ve been taught that controlled emotions, getting organised and serious analytical thinking will get us there. Society has attempted to train us into this perspective. At various stages I’ve tried this approach, but I always feel something is missing.

Whether you recognise your innate creativity, or you’re curious to learn how to “get it”, I’m here to provide little sparks of light onto the whole range of wonderful options we have. New perspectives, when embraced, change everything. I would love for you to join with me in this exploration.

Introduce yourself below, and let me know where you’d like more creativity in your life! I’m also more than happy to answer your questions, and ultra-delighted if you want to share some of your creative insights!

Best wishes,

Jacquie

  1. Thank you Jacquie,

This is a really lovely article about yourself leading nicely into creativity. I think that it is so important to think outside the box and be who you want to be. You are right that that takes courage and wish people would stop being like everyone else and be their own individual lovable self.

Individuality brings about creativity and we all need lots of colour and differences in this world.

    Thank you

Yes, individuality is a great part of creativity! As we learn to turn inward and find more love there, we get better at  appreciating and enjoying our differences.
